Interim Chief Information Officer / Chief Technology Officer
Houston, TX
Contracted
Senior Executive
Contract | 9–18 months | Day rate + expenses | Travel M–F, CONUS
The mandate
The portfolio company is running on systems that cannot support the plan — often several incompatible systems following a roll-up. You lead the consolidation: a single ERP across multiple manufacturing facilities, on a schedule the sponsor set with an exit in mind.
ERP migrations are where transformation timelines go to die. You are hired because you have brought one in before, under pressure, without stopping the shipments.
What you'll own
- ERP selection, migration, or consolidation across multiple sites — SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor, or similar
- Program governance, budget, and timeline, with direct board and sponsor reporting
- Systems integration following acquisition, including data mapping and master data cleanup
- Cutover planning and execution without disrupting production or customer delivery
- Application rationalization and technical debt reduction
- Cybersecurity posture, including access control, patching discipline, and incident readiness
- IT organizational design and vendor management
- Reporting and analytics capability — the ability to produce margin by product and by customer without a manual rebuild
What you bring
- 15+ years in IT leadership, with prior CIO, CTO, or IT VP accountability
- At least two full ERP implementations or migrations led end to end in manufacturing environments
- Multi-site and multi-entity systems consolidation experience
- Genuine manufacturing process understanding — you know what MRP is actually doing
- Budget and vendor negotiation authority at scale
- Ability to say no to scope creep when the timeline cannot absorb it
Strong plus: post-acquisition systems integration; carve-out IT separation; PE portfolio experience; MES and shop floor systems; exposure to digital transformation programs beyond ERP.
